The Idiocy of the Innocent

“Self defense is justly called the primary law of nature, so it is not, neither can it be in fact, taken away by the laws of society.”  Sir William Blackstone, Commentaries on the Laws of England.

I have a hard time holding my tongue sometimes when I hear supposedly rational people make totally idiotic statements.  Recently at a social gathering, the ever hovering liberals were proclaiming their moderation and moral superiority by the fact that they had decided that they would only own small capacity handguns and would rather die than use something more effective.

I replied that the fact that they had decided to die after six shots (they won't even own semi-auto pistols) was no reason to force that decision on me.  I have decided not to die until a whole lot of my attackers are dead and that means a lot more ammo has been expended.  In an attack, any attack, ammo is time and time is life.  The more ammo you have the longer you will live.  Period.  If your ammo lasts longer than the lives of your attackers you will survive.

The most maddening thing about his interchange was the fact that these idiotic notions were being mouthed with all of the false moral authority only a liberal can muster by people who have never once in their life carried a gun in anger or been in serious danger.

As I held my tongue, my mind wandered back to a Central American port in 1970.  Twelve of us were in the back of six-by being transported to the local military police headquarters for our evening's duty.  Out of nowhere, there were hundreds of people on the streets.  We were trapped in the truck in the middle of a mob.  We were armed with nightsticks and not even sidearms, much less our long weapons.

By the grace of God, our host country troops protected us even though it looked as though their hearts weren't in it.  If the mob had been more determined our local security detail might have disappeared.  It is unlikely that they would have risked dying to protect a truck full of gringos.

Given a chance, that mob would have killed every one of us and drug our bodies through the streets.  They didn't care that we were basically nice people and had nothing against them.  They didn't care that we had wives and families at home.  They didn't care that we had brought them food and medicine.  They hated us with a pure white hot rage just because we were Americans.

We weren't saved because of moral persuasion or the mob's respect for their military.  That mob had zero respect for anybody especially their country's military.  But, they did respect the dozen or so hard faced, dead eyed, brown skinned troopers with submachine guns.  The mob knew that many of them would die if they advanced and they decided to live a while longer. That is the ultimate rule of self defense from a mob, if you advance you will die.

Sitting in the back of that truck, I cursed every single person in the chain of command that put me on a Latin American street on a Saturday night in the middle of an angry mob with nothing but a nightstick.  If I had had a weapon in my possession and the crowd had tried to take me or one of my unit, I would have used it.  Frankly, at that moment, if they had advanced further, I would have pulled the trigger on a cannon into that crowd and cheered if a gunship had strafed the survivors.  Sure, I might have had some bad nights afterward but I would be alive to deal with it.

Those moments in the back of that truck so long ago were reality.  Life or death reality.  Something most liberals have never faced. This mob that hated us because we were Americans.  But, the face of a mob is the same in any country and ideology makes no difference.  Islamic mobs in the Middle East who hate because you are Christian are the same and domestic American mobs who hate you because of your race or class are no different.  The basic decency and humanity of all people of all races disappears when they join the mob.

Facing a mob, any sane human being will pull the trigger on any weapon he can get his hands on. And, any sane human being who had lived through a mob would never voluntarily be without an effective weapon again.

The Gun Control Debate In A Nutshell

  • Brad Can you provide evidence of this "fact"?
  • Dan  The Virginia Tech massacre in 2007, in which 32 people were murdered, was the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in U.S. history.

The Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, in which 168 people were murdered, remains the deadliest bombing incident in U.S. history.

3,000+ people were murdered in 2001 as a direct result of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Flight 93. The 9/11 investigations concluded that the hijackers used box knives to take control of the four aircraft. Therefore those box knives were either the direct or proximate cause of the death of each and every person who lost their life by being a passenger or crew member of one of the aircraft, by being at the Pentagon, or by being in or near the vicinity of the World Trade Center.

If you have evidence to refute my claim, please provide it.

  • Bill Kumpe Yes, I can provide evidence supporting Dan's statement thank you. 2977 people died as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks which were committed with box cutters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_September_11_attacks

  • Brad You guys are either delusional or evil. Box cutters didn't kill anyone. Airplanes did. How many school kids would have died last week if the murderer had stormed the school with a box cutter?

  • Brian Brad, they are neither delusional nor evil.

  • Brad Sorry. Those words were too strong. I apologize. They are wrong though.

  • Brian It's cool, Brad. I'll respect your right to be wrong since you'll respect our right to be wrong

  • Bill Kumpe I would suggest that the government did not reach that conclusion. They did not ban AIRLINERS but have spent billions of dollars and destroyed the Fourth Amendment to prevent sharp objects from being carried onto airliners. Sounds like they concluded the proximate cause of those deaths was box cutters.

  • Dan Sound analysis by Mr. Kumpe.

  • Brad  Funny.

  • Bill Kumpe In the law, a proximate cause is an event sufficiently related to a legally recognizable injury to be held to be the cause of that injury. There are two types of causation in the law: cause-in-fact, and proximate (or legal) cause. Cause-in-fact is determined by the "but for" test: But for the action, the result would not have happened. For example, but for running the red light, the collision would not have occurred. For an act to cause a harm, both tests must be met; proximate cause is a legal limitation on cause-in-fact. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proximate_cause
  • Dan And that pretty much sums up the point I was intending to make when I posted the picture of the box knife that started this conversation.
  • Brad How many school kids would have died last week if the murderer had stormed the school with a box cutter?

  • Bill Kumpe How many school kids would have died if anybody on the premises had a gun in their possession? If you will notice, all of these mass shootings occur in places where guns are banned, schools, theatres, malls, etc. They never occur where somebody could shoot back.

  • Brad Unfortunately, probably many more in the crossfire.
  • Bill Kumpe That is an emotional response that has no basis in fact. Sunday morning, I will go to a church where the pastor will be carrying. He is former licensed firearms instructor. There will be a sixtyish gentleman about three or four rows over. He is a retired TPD officer. I did time in the military, including a hitch with the naval equivalent of a rifle platoon and a hitch of temp duty as a Shore Patrolman. Any one of us usually hit what we aim at and we are typical self defense folks. Also, the numbers don't support your hypothesis: http://gunowners.org/fs0404.htm

  • Brad The pastor will be carrying a weapon in church???? Sorry Bill but people like you scare me. Best wishes.

  • Bill Kumpe Brad, there are two types of men. Those who will assume the responsibilty for their own safety and the safety of their family and friends and those who won't. Those who won't do not understand and fear those who do. That is unfortunate. But, your decision and fear should not make me and my family victims of your fear. If you won't take responsibility for own safety fine, but don't force that decision on me and the millions like me who will defend ourselves.

  • Bill Kumpe Oh BTW. Why fear a pastor with a pistol? Almost every judge I know has a large caliber pistol under their robes in the courtroom.

  • Brad I repeat. You and people like you scare me. Merry Christmas.

  • Dan Brad, you have nothing to fear from Bill or people like him, including me. The people you should fear are the thugs and criminals who have no qualms with breaking into and vandalizing your home, stealing and destroying your property, and assaulting, raping and murdering you and your family.

Tragedy and Evil

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed ..."

We witnessed a terrible tragedy this week. An evil person took the lives of over twenty innocent children and their teachers. He happened to use guns to do it.

Now, we have the President of the United States shamelessly exploiting this tragedy and hinting that he will repeal part of the U.S. Constitution and disarm the population. An announcement may come later this morning.

This will not accomplish the stated goal. What it will do is disarm the peaceful, law abiding population and make them subject to the will of both an out of control government and the millions of less than law abiding of our nation who will ignore the law and keep their guns.

When that happens, tragedy will turn into genocide. Millions of Americans live in their homes with a reasonable degree of security (in neighborhoods that people like O and his minions do not even consider) because behind their locked door is a gun and a person ready to use it, not a hunting weapon but an effective killing machine that will dispense instant justice to any hoodlum who decides to come through the door by force. During the last century the state of the art Colt revolver was called "the Equalizer" for good reason.  It allowed normal people to walk the streets and live in their homes without fear that a stronger person or a mob for that matter would harm them.  Without that protection today, the thugs and mobs will rule and innocent people will die, not by the tens but by the tens of thousands. And under this justice department, the perpetrators will likely never be discouraged much less punished.

The American people first became a nation of free men and forever cast off the burden of serfdom when they stood with privately owned military style weapons and said to their persecutors and the world that they would take no more. The current administration should be warned that using this tragedy to try to disarm the responsible population would be a step too far.

Not America Any More

A disturbing event happened this week that I fear is representative of the fate of our nation.  A high school principal in West Virginia decided to play the so-called "Black National Anthem" during the morning patriotic observation at his school.  Some students rightly refused to stand during the ceremony because the so-called "Black National Anthem" is not THE National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner.  To accord another song, the honor due the real National Anthem, no matter how beautiful or symbolic it might be, would be inappropriate.

The principal then disciplined the students who refused to go along with his unpatriotic and inappropriate action.  In turn, the parents of the students who were disciplined brought rightly pressure to bear on the principal. The school board then decided that nobody had to stand up for the National Anthem.

So, what really happened here?  First, we have an educator who is more PC than Patriot that decided to force the students under his control to accord respect due the United States alone to an expression of his racial pride.  Never mind the fact that racial pride is only acceptable for some races in our society and is classified as a "hate crime" if expressed by others.  The parents of the students disciplined, instead of lynching the principal as many would suggest that Southern Whites would do in such a situation, petitioned their government for redress.  The redress they received was not the disciplining of the principal and the reestablishment of the proper place in public life an official symbol of our country.  Instead, the school board gave students the right not to respect ANY symbol of our country.

So, what happens now?  If you play the Star Spangled Banner, some of the white students will stand while everybody else sits.  But, if you play the so-called "Black National Anthem" the next time, then the white students will sit while the black students stand.  And I guess if you play the Mexican National Anthem then the Hispanic students will stand and everybody else, but the PC types will sit.

This is not the way to unify students in their identity as American Citizens.  It is a way to teach racial hatred. Once upon a time, we taught that people of any race, creed, color or national origin were welcome IF THEY WERE WILLING TO BECOME AMERICANS.  Not hyphenated Americans.  Just, Americans.  Period.  We were a melting pot, not a salad bowl.  We strove to become one people of one nation with equal rights and equal responsibilities for all.

But now, our public schools and other institutions are destroying that unity by allowing illegal aliens to immigrate without going through the assimilation process.  Our schools teach that the America that the people of my generation loves is evil and wicked and needs to be changed to look more like the places these immigrants fled from.

You don't have to look any further than public schools in California, Arizona and Colorado to see where this policy is going to take us.  In some Hispanic dominated schools in these states, it is dangerous for a student to wear clothing with the American flag on it because the Hispanic students will attack anyone wearing the symbol of our nation.  These same Hispanic students refuse to study American History claiming that they have the right to study THEIR OWN cultural history instead.  Some schools districts have even flown the Mexican flag on their flag poles.

So called "multi-culturalism" has another and much more ugly name.  Tribalism.  In only a couple of generations America has been changed from a melting pot made stronger by the addition of new Americans from around the world who shared our vision of freedom and liberty to a salad bowl of competing tribes who are increasingly violent toward each other.  And frankly, our current president and his Justice Department have not only allowed this but encouraged it.

BHO was elected by HIS tribe more or less ... and those others who do not understand what he really stands for.  My tribe, the traditional American tribe of ALL races, is out of power.  Increasingly we are looking like an African nation whose politics and population are defined solely by their tribal identities.  Not having experienced the horrors of Tribalism, many Americans do not understand what it means for their tribe to be out of power.  We should probably talk to some Hutu's or perhaps some Nigerian Christians to get an idea of where this tribal brand of multiculturalism is taking us.

It Couldn't Happen Here

I'm still telling myself it couldn't happen here.  Not in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the buckle on the Bible Belt, arguably the most "Christian" city in the U.S.  But it did.  Last week, Muslims bought the little neighborhood church just up the street from our house.

I was there at the auction with a pastor friend/client who was ready to bid on the property.  That was at best a forlorn hope.  It was obvious from the beginning that the interested Christians in the room were bidding against Saudi oil money and there wasn't enough money in the room to keep them from getting what they wanted.
The successful bidders were obviously observant Muslims.  The men were dressed like all Muslims do complete with beards.  But, the key visual was the little woman with them.  Her head was covered and she was very careful to stay a few feet behind the men as they walked around the building.

I think the thing that bothered me worst was their attitude.  When the leader had placed the successful bid and the party was leaving the room, the leader had a look on his face that screamed, "Go to hell Kafir, we have bought your Christian worship place, there is nothing you can do about it and we will now shove it in your entire neighborhood's face with every call to prayer from the bell tower."

Muslims like to buy Christian buildings and convert them as a symbol of their dominance of the culture.   Muammar Qadhaifeh once said, "There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe without swords, without guns, without conquests."  They have all but succeeded in Europe and it is now happening in America .... in my neighborhood.

Protests, political complaints, even violence would do no good.  The Muslims are committed to using our very freedoms and tolerance against us to destroy those very values.  And they will then call us stupid for letting them get away with it.

In my case, it may just be time to move.

A House Divided

At some finite moment known only to God, in the fateful hours and days of 1859 and 1860, the American people became so divided that civil war was inevitable.  We have reached that point again in America.

I tried very hard this weekend to have a political conversation with an Obama supporter.  He is a genial, intelligent man who strives to be average and moderate and believes that Obama represented the prized "moderate" position for America.   But, when I tried to talk to him about Obama's glaring failures, a sort of glaze came over his eyes, his analytical skills disappeared and he was unable to find anything wrong with Obama's never ending stream of foreign policy gaffes or even Benghazi.  Obama's radical background and associates were forgotten.  The man was literally brainwashed.

I have noticed that Obama followers fit a profile, a rather scary one actually.  First, they are NOT CHRISTIANS.  (See article HERE for statistics.)They may call themselves Christians and will probably be oh so insulted if you ask questions about the orthodoxy of their faith.  On the other hand, I have as yet to meet a born again Christian who shows the fruits of the Spirit in daily practice who would not say that Obama makes their skin crawl.  Not because he is black nor because he is a Democrat or even a liberal but rather because something in their very spirit is repulsed by him.  In short, they sense evil.  One of the most basic gifts of the Holy Spirit in regeneration is an inborn ability to sense and be repulsed by evil even if you cannot put your finger on the specific reason. This quality is lacking in every Obama follower I have ever tried to talk to.  Increasingly, Christians are talking in hushed tones about Obama being, not the anti-Christ himself perhaps, but certainly his messenger and precursor.

Second, I have never met a person who has served in the military or as a peace officer who has anything but loathing for Obama.  There is a code of honor that you accept when you take up arms in protection of others.  Obama offends and continues to offend that code on so many levels that many of these folks find him and his sycophants leading them contemptible.  Obama does it because he is not a member of the warrior class, does not understand it and has no respect for it.

Third, I have never met a small business owner who supports Obama.  These are also a different class of person.  It takes something special to get out of bed in the morning, face the world and go make money on your own initiative.  It takes a special kind of courage to shoulder the risks and pay the price to build a business.  Most people can't or won't and derive their living from these special few who can and will.  As  a group, every small business owner I know thoroughly despises Obama.  Again, Obama is not a member of the entrepreneurial class, does not understand it and has no respect for it.

Fourth, Obama supporters have almost child-like ability to ignore reality and live in a world defined for them by others, particularly the traditional media, where the laws of history, nature and even mathematics are conveniently suspended.  The man I talked about above, while highly educated, lacks the core ability to separate truth from fiction, propaganda from reality.  To him, NPR and the mainstream news networks are gospel and anyone and anything that disagrees is radical and unreliable.  His worldview, his literal ability to think, have been totally shaped by what he has been told.   In short, Obama followers have no inner ability to resist propaganda.

America is now truly a house divided.  Approximately forty three percent of Americans fit the description above and forty or so percent are in direct opposition and stand prepared to simply refuse to compromise any further.  Obama's second term cannot function without some resolution of this division and I don't see how that can be done without abrogating the constitution outright and declaring a police state by federalizing private property and suspending First Amendment rights to free speech, association and exercise of religion.  That cannot end well.  May God have mercy on us.

Secession Watch

Listed below are quick links to the Secession Petitions of Oklahoma and several surrounding states. Liberal operatives in many states have recorded multiple petitions to split the vote but the movement seems to be so broad based that even the multiple petitions are going to reach 25,000 in many states.  The total number of citizens signing secession petitions will probably reach a million or more by the weekend.  Many of the petitions directly the quote The Declaration of Independence .....

According to Obama's own policy, when a petition reaches 25,000 signatures the Administration is required to respond.  Exactly how they will respond, other than carefully noting the URL of every signature, is hard to predict.  But, the fact remains that the explosive political conditions that existed in 1860 are repeating themselves with astonishing rapidity.

OKLAHOMA:  OVER 16,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

ARKANSAS:  OVER 20,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

TEXAS:   GOAL REACHED - OVER 100,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING.

MISSOURI:  SIGNATURES AND GROWING

LOUISIANA:  GOAL REACHED - OVER 34,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

MISSISSIPPI:

ALABAMA:  GOAL REACHED - OVER 27,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

TENNESSEE:  GOAL REACHED - OVER 27,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

GEORGIA:  GOAL REACHED - OVER 28,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

FLORIDA:  GOAL REACHED - OVER 30,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

NORTH CAROLINAGOAL REACHED - OVER 27,000 SIGNATURES AND GROWING

Pray for God to grant us grace and wisdom in the choices we may soon have to make.

Repent!

For the past several days, I have felt a burden to share a message.  When that happens, I normally go to the Scriptures expecting the Lord to instruct me further.  I did that this morning and got the strong impression that, while the Scriptures I was reading were instructive and maybe even applicable, it was time for a new word fitting to this moment.

Don't get me wrong, I do not claim to be writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the same manner as the human authors of scripture.  Far from it.  My fear of the eternal penalties for corrupting scripture  prevent that.  Nor do I particularly wish to be a prophet.  If nothing else, my studies of the scripture have taught me that taking up the mantle of a prophet almost always brings unpleasant rewards. So what am I?  I am a man who fears God and is in mourning for his country, a sad old warrior of das kulturkampf , walking away battered and bruised after a crushing defeat.

I had a very intense little conversation with a highly placed man in Christian legal circles this week.  I asked him if he had any idea why American voters who had so much to lose would choose socialism over freedom.  He responded that without Godly principles guiding them, men will choose error and make that error their religion.  That is what has happened in the United States.

Who are the people who voted for Obama?  A lot of them are deeply invested in the welfare state.  Others are deeply invested in racial/tribal loyalty above all else.  The wealthy are deeply invested with their treasure because they know that they will get wealthier under a corrupt socialist system.  Fascism/National Socialism was the best thing that ever happened to the uber rich in Germany and Italy until the bombs started falling.

That brought me to the next question.  Who is the average American these days?  They are nothing like me, my parents or even my friends for that matter.  They may call themselves Christians but they have never made a true commitment to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so they don't understand the cost of discipleship. They have never served in the military so they don't understand the price of their  freedom.  They have never owned their own business so they don't understand the gut wrenching effort it takes to make a dollar from scratch.  They have never been politically active so they don't understand the quiet but desperate internal battles necessary to keep the system honest and responsive.   In short, they are free riders, taking all that they can and giving nothing back.

Increasingly, I find it difficult to be around these people.  Conversation with them is almost impossible because there is nothing behind their words and their smiles. They are empty shells, high functioning human sheep.  They don't understand honor because they have none.  They don't appreciate truth because the truth is not in them.  They talk about their money and the things it can buy.  They talk about their pleasures.  But, when you try to reach past the  temporary things that will pass away the instant they pass from this life to the next, there is nothing there, just an empty human shell filled with worldly garbage.  Is it any wonder that this new "average American" chose Barack Hussein Obama?  Over fifty years ago, C.S. Lewis predicted it in his groundbreaking work, The Abolition of Man:  "We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”

Sunday morning, some pastors will preach Veterans Day sermons.  There is nothing wrong with that I suppose.  But frankly, as a veteran, I get sick and tired of the smiling liberal face thanking me for my service while they vote for people who waste the lives of young warriors and do everything in their power to destroy the military institutions that protect us from our enemies.  Keep your thanks liberal. Your empty gesture makes me want to puke.  I didn't do it for you.  I did it for my mom and dad, for my wife and baby, for my little piece of land in Oklahoma, for my fellow servicemen and for the generations of Kumpe's before me who all served honorably when duty called.  You, Mr. or Ms. Liberal, are just darned lucky that some Americans still look beyond themselves and their own interests to obey the sense of duty and honor that you lack.

Other pastors will preach a Second Amendment Day sermon.  And, there is nothing wrong with that. I completely agree with George Orwell who said, "That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there.”

If I were to take the pulpit this morning, my sermon would be short.  I would say:
We have sinned against the most Holy God who gave us this great nation with all of its liberties and abundance.  We have chosen a president who is an abomination before man and God.   His sins are our sins no matter how we voted because, even though we had forty years to fix the political system, we did not.  We refused to make the tough choices necessary to face down the people who called us friends until they lost all respect for us and continually gave us unacceptable choices and un-winnable situations.  We sold Your Church's influence and reputation at bargain basement prices and gained absolutely nothing permanent in return.  Forty years ago, the late Francis Schaeffer warned us this day was coming and we did not heed his warning.  We are now going to pay the price for our sins and it is not going to be pretty.  I ask the congregation to get on their knees right now and we will spend the rest of the service weeping before God in repentance, beseeching Him to be merciful to us in the tribulation that is to come.

God's Judgment Has Fallen On America

Evil rulers are a judgment from God upon corrupt nations.  Barack Hussein Obama is evil on levels that the normal person cannot even begin to understand.  He is the human representation of ancient evils striving for the soul of not just America but all of Christianity.  He is the servant of the evils that corrupted Sodom and Gomorrah, an adherent of the scimitar wielding, mixed political, social and religious movement that once nearly ruled the world.  His politics are the philosophical product of the darkest tribal hatreds of peoples known for their savagery.

God has judged America and turned us over to these ancient evils because we are a corrupt nation.  In the last few desperate days of the campaign, GOP pundits, whistling in the dark, predicted a massive Evangelical turnout would save the day and thus save America from what is to come.  And, it would appear that Evangelical voters showed up en masse to try to block what is coming.  But, those Evangelical voters and the  politicians desperately depending upon them to save their cause, forgot one thing.  The election was not in the hands of the easily fooled, ever more compromising Evangelical voter.  Rather, from the beginning, it was in the hands the Evangelicals God who is never fooled by political promises and by His very nature cannot compromise with evil.

For decades, the better voices within the American Evangelical political community have been warning that continued political involvement by the church was not sanctifying the political system but rather polluting and compromising the church.  This was true and born out by last night's events.  Early on, the Evangelicals made a pragmatic political decision to support a candidate who offered them next to nothing because in their eyes the alternative was unthinkable.  However, the God of the Evangelicals has no need to think pragmatically because His will is the law of the universe.  Evangelicals forgot this and did not set up a situation where He could bless their pitiful political endeavors.  God specifically warns us NOT to use pragmatic reasoning when deciding matters of faith and morality.  This excerpt from an excellent sermon (link Here) explains this principle very well:

If you have your Bibles with you today, and I hope you do, turn with me to 2nd Timothy chapter 2 and verse 1. “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. :2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” .... Timothy is told in verse 3, “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.:4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. :5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.”
Verse three means exactly what it says, being a soldier is often a hard situation to be in, and then adds in verse 4, no soldier entangles himself with the affairs of this life, and the word affairs is the Greek word pragmatea. From which we get pragmatic. The daily transactions and ordinary business of life. The same old same old. If you are going to engage in spiritual warfare, you need to realize that doing it in pragmatic, worldly ways is not going to work, all it is going to do is get you entangled with the world and it’s problems.
What happens when we try and use the affairs and methods of the world to do the things of God? If we try and use worldly methods, plans and procedures to accomplish the things of Christ? We waste our time, and the church’s time. Because God won’t have it. It is fleshly works, and God won’t have fleshly works. God does not accept the works of the flesh, He only accepts works which come from the Holy Spirit working in believers. Avoid using worldly shortcuts to spiritual success. It doesn’t work. Using carnal methods to accomplish God’s work, doing spiritual work in the power of the flesh is a total waste of time. A total waste of time.
This morning's Washington Times editorial titled "Four More Years of No Hope" (link Here)  bears this Biblical principal out:

WASHINGTON — All that for nothing. It was the billion-dollar election that did not decide one single damned thing.
Republicans control the House. Democrats control the Senate. And the White House remains in Democratic hands with absolutely no mandate whatsoever.
Another four years with no hope of change.
In this environment with this economy and all the gravely important matters pressing against the very existence of this country, it should have been a tsunami election. It should have been a landslide that sent President Obama into dust heap of failed presidencies. Instead, the election was about Big Bird.
It was the rape election. The contraception election. The binders full of women election.
It was about who was born where and whether she really could claim to be a Cherokee Indian.
It was about former president George W. Bush. And it was about gay marriage.
It was about the 1 percent and the 99 percent and the 47 percent.
It was about dancing freaking horses, for crying out loud!
Just about the only thing the election wasn’t about was the economy, which everyone agrees was the only thing voters actually cared about. People tend to really care about the economy when real unemployment reaches double digits, welfare rolls fatten by one-third, politicians rack up $16 trillion in debt and the largest tax hike in the history of the world looms just weeks away.
Put simply, the Left was true to its principles, campaigned on them and did a better job of convincing a razor slim majority of voters they deserved to win.  The Right, particularly the Evangelical Right, did not campaign on its principles, abandoned their issues to their opposition and hoped that pragmatically encouraging the American people to vote their pocket books alone would save the day.  God does not care about our pocketbooks.  He cares about our souls.  And we, the American Right, abandoned the fight for souls on issues like abortion, homosexuality and Sharia law.  Is it any wonder God turned us over to a despicable, evil ruler for another four years?

So, what do we have to look foward to?  Valerie Jarrett, the presidential adviser widely known as the brains behind Obama said this (link Here) just a few days ago:

After we win this election, it's our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us
is against us and they better be ready because we don't forget. The ones who
helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve.
There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won't be a problem for us
this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges
ready to go."
A wonderful old man of God named E.V. Hill once said, "When God sends tribulation children, you had better learn how to tribulate."  That's pretty good advice at 5:00 A.M. this 7th day of November, 2012.  Rudyard Kipling was the poet laureate of the British Empire at the height of its power.  And yet, in the midst of its glory and power he also saw the seeds of its decline and penned these immortal words:

Recessional

1897

God of our fathers, known of old,
Lord of our far-flung battle-line,
Beneath whose awful Hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

The tumult and the shouting dies;
The Captains and the Kings depart:
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
An humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

Far-called, our navies melt away;
On dune and headland sinks the fire:
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

If, drunk with sight of power, we loose
Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe,
Such boastings as the Gentiles use,
Or lesser breeds without the Law—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

For heathen heart that puts her trust
In reeking tube and iron shard,
All valiant dust that builds on dust,
And guarding, calls not Thee to guard,
For frantic boast and foolish word—
Thy mercy on Thy People, Lord!

May God have mercy on us through what is to come.

AmeriChussetts? Romney's "Evolving Consenus" on Key Issues

In a few days we will elect a new President of the United States. If things go as the polls are predicting right now, that man will be Mitt Romney though election fraud and an out and out coup by Obama forces cannot be ruled out. But, if Romney is elected, American Christians will praise God and go back to their lives without thinking twice about what they have done.

The ultra liberal Des Moines Register just endorsed Romney and in so doing probably prophesied what a Romney presidency will be all about ... in a word compromise. So, looking back objectively, where did Romney the governor stand on the issues before he became Romney the Presidential candidate:

On abortion and the right to life (source ABC NEWS which calls him an "abortion moderate"):
2002: 'I Will Preserve and Protect a Woman's Right to Choose' While running for Massachusetts governor eight years later, Romney assured voters in the moderate state that he was "not going to change our pro-choice laws in Massachusetts in any way."
2005: 'I Am Pro-Life' but, he also said he would uphold his campaign promise not to change Massachusetts' abortion laws."
2007: 'We Should Overturn Roe v. Wade' During his first presidential bid in 2007, Romney explained that he had "changed my mind" on abortion while serving his one term as Massachusetts governor.
2011: 'I Will Support Efforts to Prohibit Federal Funding for Any Organization Like Planned Parenthood' While Romney said repeatedly that abortion laws should be left up to the states, he told Fox's Mike Huckabee in October 2011 that he "absolutely" supports a Constitutional amendment banning abortion.
2012: 'There's No Legislation With Regards to Abortion That I'm Familiar With That Would Become Part of My Agenda' Less than two months after accepting the GOP nomination, Romney seemed to tack back toward the center on his abortion stance, telling the Des Moines Register this week that he would not make abortion legislation part of his agenda.
So, it appears that on the issue of abortion Romney pretty well says whatever he needs to to get elected.

On the Second Amendment right to own and bear arms (source Politico:)
1.1994 “I don’t line up with the NRA.”, During his 1994 Senate campaign, Romney came out in support of the Brady Bill and a ban on certain types of assault weapons.
2. 2002 “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts — I support them. I won’t chip away at them. I believe they help protect us, and provide for our safety.” — Sept. 24, 2002, at a debate during the Massachusetts gubernatorial race.
3. 2004 Signed a permanent assault-weapons ban as governor of the Bay State. “Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts,” Romney said at the July 1, 2004, signing ceremony. “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”
5. 2006 Signed up for a lifetime NRA membership
6. 2007 “I support the Second Amendment as one of the most basic and fundamental rights of every American.” — Sept. 24, 2007, in a video address at an NRA conference
7. 2012 "I will enforce the laws already on the books and punish, to the fullest extent of the law, criminals who misuse firearms to commit crimes." But he does not support adding more laws and regulations that do nothing more than burden law-abiding citizens while being ignored by criminals. Mitt will also provide law enforcement with the proper and effective resources they need to deter, apprehend, and punish criminals.”
So, again it appears that on the issue of gun control and gun ownership Romney's position is to say whatever he needs to say to gain consensus and get elected.

On HealthCare Mandates and Socialized Medicine: (source Slate):
June 21, 2005. In a Boston Herald op-ed, Romney outlines his vision:  "Everyone must either become insured or maintain adequate savings to cover their medical expenses. We cannot expect some citizens to pay for others who can afford to pay some or all of their own way."
April 3, 2006. At a press conference, A reporter ask whether an “assessment” in the bill, which would charge companies $295 per worker for failing to insure their employees, violates Romney’s pledge not to raise taxes. Romney replies: "It’s not a tax hike. It is a fee. It’s an assessment. … "
April 11, 2006. In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Romney writes:  "Every uninsured citizen in Massachusetts will soon have affordable health insurance and the costs of health care will be reduced. And we will need no new taxes, no employer mandate and no government takeover to make this happen. …"
April 12, 2006. Romney signs the bill into law. In the first paragraph of his press release, he proclaims: “Today, Massachusetts is leading the way with health insurance for everyone, without a government takeover and without raising taxes.” He notes that “failure by individuals to purchase health insurance will result in the loss of their state tax refund equal to 50 percent of an affordable health insurance premium.” But he describes this sanction as “penalties,” not taxation.

Aug. 24, 2007. In a speech to the Florida Medical Association, Romney says his “enforcement mechanism” for people earning more than three times the poverty level is that “when they get their tax bill … they’re charged $100 a month for not having bought insurance.” He calls the Massachusetts system universal coverage without “needing new taxes.”
Jan. 5, 2008. In a Republican presidential debate, moderator Charlie Gibson tells Romney, “You imposed tax penalties in Massachusetts.” Romney replies: “Yes. We said, ‘Look, if people can afford to buy it, either buy the insurance or pay your own way. Don't be free riders and pass on the cost to your health care to everybody else.’”
July 30, 2009. In a USA Today op-ed, Romney touts the Massachusetts law: "First, we established incentives for those who were uninsured to buy insurance. Using tax penalties, as we did, or tax credits, as others have proposed, encourages "free riders" to take responsibility for themselves rather than pass their medical costs on to others. This doesn't cost the government a single dollar."
2009. In a CNN interview, Romney frames the tax penalty as an inverted tax credit: “It's a kind of mandate. It's a requirement. In order to get a tax exemption that you'd normally get, you’ve got to have health insurance, because we want everybody in the system. No more free riders.”
March 7, 2010. On Fox News Sunday, Romney says “we didn't raise taxes” in enacting the Massachusetts law. When Chris Wallace objects that “you have an individual mandate,” Romney replies that the Massachusetts law, unlike Obamacare, entails “no new taxes,” even though residents of Massachusetts who “don't buy insurance” will “find that their taxes are higher.”
April 15, 2010. In a speech at Claremont McKenna College, Romney repeats what he told Wallace: “If you don’t buy it, you’re going to get penalized with a higher tax rate for not having gotten insurance.”
June 28, 2012. The U.S. Supreme Court rules that Obama’s individual mandate is unconstitutional as regulation of commerce but is constitutional if interpreted as a tax. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate minority leader, quickly declares, “The Supreme Court has spoken. This law is a tax.” But Romney, speaking a few minutes later, doesn’t bite. He confines his comments about taxation in the law to provisions other than the mandate
July 2, 2012. On MSNBC, Eric Fehrnstrom, Romney’s senior adviser and spokesman, tells Chuck Todd, “The governor disagreed with the ruling of the court. He agreed with the dissent that was written by Justice Scalia, which very clearly stated that the mandate was not a tax.” He continues:
Fehrnstrom: The governor believes that what we put in place in Massachusetts was a penalty, and he disagrees with the court’s ruling that the mandate was a tax. But again—
Todd: So he agrees with the president … and he believes that you shouldn’t call the tax penalty a tax, you should call it a penalty or a fee or a fine?
Fehrnstrom: That’s correct. But the president also needs to be held accountable for his hypocritical and contradictory statements. But he’s described it variously as a penalty and as a tax.
July 2, 2012. Lest anyone mistake Fehrnstrom's comments as a spontaneous rogue error, the Romney campaign issues a press release quoting spokeswoman Andrea Saul:
The Supreme Court left President Obama with two choices: the federal individual mandate in Obamacare is either a constitutional tax or an unconstitutional penalty. Governor Romney thinks it is an unconstitutional penalty. What is President Obama’s position: is his federal mandate unconstitutional or is it a tax?”
July 4, 2012. In an interview with Jan Crawford of CBS News—six days after the Supreme Court ruling, six days after declaring his disagreement with the ruling, and two days after his campaign issued a press release reaffirming that the mandate was a penalty, not a tax—Romney announces that the court’s ruling has changed his view on that question.
Romney: The Supreme Court has the final word. And their final word is that Obamacare is a tax. So it's a tax. …
Crawford: Have you changed your views on this? Do you now believe that it is a tax at the federal level—that the Supreme Court has said it's a tax, so it is a tax?
Romney: Well, I said that I agreed with the dissent, and the dissent made it very clear that they felt it was unconstitutional. But the dissent lost. It's in the minority. And so now the Supreme Court has spoken. … They concluded it was a tax. That's what it is. And the American people know that President Obama has broken the pledge he made. He said he wouldn't raise taxes on middle-income Americans. Not only did he raise the $500 billion that was already in the bill, it's now clear that his mandate, as described by the Supreme Court, is a tax.
Crawford: But does that mean the mandate in the state of Massachusetts under your health care law also is a tax, and that you raised taxes as governor?
Romney: Actually the chief justice, in his opinion, made it very clear that at the state level, states have the power to put in place mandates. They don't need to require them to be called taxes in order for them to be constitutional. And, as a result, Massachusetts' mandate was a mandate, was a penalty, was described that way by the legislature and by me. And so it stays as it was.
Romney also tells CNN: "The Supreme Court is the final word, right? Isn’t that the highest court in the land? And they said it was a tax, didn't they? So it's a tax, of course.”
Romney's Massachusetts State socialized health care plan was the model for Obama Care.  Do you seriously think that Romeny the "moderate consensus candidate" will have the cojones to overturn it? He has already telegraphed his position, "The Supreme Court is the final word."

And the list could go on to other issues like immigration.  For example, see "Romney Softens Stance On Immigration" from the Latino version of Fox News.

James 1:8 tells us that, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."  Mitt Romney is more than double minded on these key issues.  He is double tongued, literally two faced.  I Timothy 3:8 (ESV) tells us that our leaders must be: "dignified, not double-tongued ..." The amplified Bible takes this concept further saying they must, "not (be) shifty and double-talkers but sincere in what they say." Romney is shifty on the issues and full of double talk. From the record of his own words the only thing he is really sincere about is wanting your vote.  The only predictable thing that you can say about his position on any issue is that it will be what is required to gain the necessary consensus to get elected.  And while I agree with most of my friends that Romney is less dangerous than Obama, I cannot support him for President.
